Hello from California! I am happy to report that I arrived safe and sound on Sunday night. The week leading up to my departure was made up of a string of miraculous happenings, without which I would not have made it to my destination. You see, this trip is full of purpose. I know for a fact that I am exactly where I am supposed to be, as I have watched God move huge obstacles to get me here.
I left Oregon without enough gas money to get me to California. These are the details I wait to tell my parents until after everything works out. But seriously though, what a thrill it was! As I was driving along, I really had no plans to stop and busk. In all reality, I had no idea if there were any good spots along the way. Truly. So, when I got near Ashland, I was surprised when I suddenly felt compelled to stop and busk. Keep in mind that I have never visited Ashland and I didn’t even know if it had a downtown. Well, it turned out to be a great spot. A phenomenal spot. And that is where I made just enough money to get to my hometown.
My Oregonian, pale skin is already burned red. It is so hot here. And, friends, I used to live in this fiery inferno. I suppose that a year of Oregon’s weather is just enough time to produce a pansy. I tried to make a cover video yesterday, busking style, but the camera I was using shut off because it overheated. Therefore, the cover video does not exist. I did, however, manage to get a short clip recorded before the camera temporarily died of heatstroke (picture below).
I can hardly contain my excitement. I sense that big, epic things are on the horizon. Though I only have a couple gigs lined up so far, I know that more opportunities will arise. I have mentioned before that I will be heading down to Southern California for a worship gig at the end of August, but I hope to do some things in the bay area as well. While it is very easy for me to busk anywhere in Oregon for extra gas money, it is a lot different in California. Most cities have many regulations and restrictions against street performance, which means that I am going to have to be extra creative.
Are you interested in partnering with me in this journey? I’ve had multiple friends ask me for a method to sow into my trip. Last night, I created a virtual tip jar. If you desire to make a financial donation, here is the perfect place to do so. If you are unable at this time, prayers are just as much appreciated. I’d like to thank all of you for your continued support and encouragement. I feel very blessed.
